a walk to remember

*****A Walk to Remember is one of the most romantic novels of all time. It is about two teenagers who take part in a play together and end up falling in love. Jamie Sullivan and Landon Carter are the main characters. Jamie is the ministers’ daughter. Her mother died while giving birth to her. Jamie has such a strong and amazing relationship with her father. She is very religious and plain. She always wore the same sweater with her hair up. She never wore a touch of makeup. All Jamie she ever does is volunteer her time to help everyone with everything and anything. She is very giving and generous. Jamie always puts everyone before herself. She is not very popular and everyone thinks she is strange, because of her kindness. She is always happy no matter what. Then there’s Landon. He is the congressman’s son. He comes from a wealthy family, yet he doesn’t have a great relationship with his dad. His dad is always away working and when he comes around he doesn’t have much time to bond with Landon. He pretty much isn’t there for Landon as he goes through high school. Landon is outgoing and everyone knows who he is. He is pretty much friends with all the people he goes to school with. He can be inconsiderate and cocky to a point where you just want to slap him. He doesn’t really care about anything. He does average in school, but he isn’t exactly the smartest person, yet he gets by. As you can see already these two characters are completely different. In fact they are the exact opposite. You know they always say that opposites attract and that’s what happened between Jamie and Landon.Well Landon decides to take a theatrical class because it’s his senior year and he didn’t want to have to take a class that’s going to be hard work. This class was very hard and anyone who took this class had to take it seriously. Landon never takes things seriously, but he ended up taking this class seriously. Landon had the main role in the play. He knew he had to rehearse a ton because he didn’t know any of his lines. At first Jamie and Landon wouldn’t even speak to each other. Landon was too ashamed to be seen with Jamie. They realized that they really needed to learn the lines together because the play was coming up. Well, Jamie of course already knew her lines, she pretty much knows everything, yet she continued to rehearse with him. So they rehearsed and everything started to come along well. Before they knew it, it was already the night of the play. Many people showed up to see this play. It was a very popular play that was written by Jamie’s Father, Reverend Hugbert. Anyways, the play was going fantastic and Jamie’s part was coming up soon. Jamie then came on stage and Landon just stared at her and was in complete shock. She was wearing a long pretty white dress and her hair was down and she was actually wearing makeup. She looked beautiful. Landon couldn’t believe his eyes. He never pictured Jamie looking stunning at any point in his life. He pretty much thought it was impossible. A while back there was this one line in the play that Landon had to say and actually mean it. He could never say it with the right tone. His line was to Jamie and read, “you’re beautiful” Well tonight he didn’t even hesitate. When his part came up he looked her right in the eye and said “you’re beautiful.” He said his line perfectly and actually meant it.From there on the both of them started to spend more time together. They would go to the orphanage that Jamie volunteered at or each other's houses for dinner. They began to fall in love fast. Landon admits he would've never guessed falling in love with Jamie Sullivan, but it happened and there was nothing he could do about it. The more time they spent with each other the more they fell in love. Well one night Jamie was trying to tell Landon something very important. He knew that Jamie was being serious and he was listening to what she had to say. Jamie couldn't figure out to tell him that she was sick, but she finally did. Jamie was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Landon was completely devastated and heart broken. He knew he was losing the one he loved the most. They tried to move on and live their lives like they normally would together. Landon knew he had to do something that he’s been wanting to do to prove his love for her. Landon proposed to her. He wanted to get married to her before he lost her. So they did get married in a church with a lot of people, just like Jamie wanted. She eventually passed a little after their wedding. Landon is now 57 years old and he is the narrator of this story. He still loves her just as much as he once did, and always will. Jamie lived her live to the fullest. She was Landon's miracle. He will always miss and love her no matter what. They had such unconditional and true love that will never fade away.
I thought this book was absolutely amazing. It definitely kept me interested and I’m sure will do the same for others. I love romantic novels and this was one of the best that I have read. I recommend this book to everyone because it is enjoyable. It also teaches you a lesson. The lesson is that you shouldn’t judge people when you don’t even know them. You should take the time to know them and you’ll realize what you’ve been missing out on. If you like a person you should always tell them, because they just might end up having feelings for you too.

Dream

Last year I dreamed of having a beautiful dress because there was a homecoming dance coming up. I never really had a pretty dress, or anything. It was one of the first biggest dances I would ever attend. My mom knew that I wanted to go to the dance, yet she forbid to take me shopping. She didn't have the time or money. I would ask her constantly if we could go dress shopping. One day she finally decided to give in and she took me to go look for dresses. We went every where looking for dresses, yet found nothing. I had no luck finding a dress that I liked, by that time I was getting frustrated and just wanted to leave. Well then we went into the last store for the day and I actually found a dress afterall. I tried the dress on and it fit and looked great. I;m always self conscious, but for once in my life I actually felt beautiful and special. The dress was long and almost an electric blue. It was a strapless dress and had sequins on the top half of the dress. It was sily towards the middle and then was full on the bottom. I swear it must have been the most gorgeous dress that I have ever seen. It was every girls dream to wear the most beautiful dress. I then looked at the price tag and realized that the answer would be a no. When i looked at the price my mom looked at me and already could tell that it was too expensive, just by the look on my face. She already had an answer planned, "No." i was very upset and disappointed because I knew I would never find anything like this again. It was my first real dance and I wanted everything to be perfect, but nothing's ever perfect. All i wanted was that dress and I ended up not getting it. I was completely crushed, and thought I;d never get over it. Although I did. By that time I was feeling extremely guilty about everything that happened. I knew my mom felt bad that she couldn't afford it and it wasn't her fault. I just was being way too selfish and wanted everything. I was wrong and realize that you can't get everything in life. So I ended up going to the dance. I wore my Aunt Lynette's dress which was black and white. It still was very pretty, yet it did not compare to the dream dress I wanted. The dance ended up being a blast and I didn't even care what I was wearing anymore. All that mattered was that I had a great time, and I did.

Marijuana

Dear Kathy Dahlkemper,

I honestly think that marijuana should be illegal. There are way too many harmful side effects that come along with it. I don't understand why people need to use such a dangerous substance. All your doing is killing yourself a little more everyday. Marijuana effects your heart, brain, lungs, and it also causes anxiety. If you smoke regularly you're pretty much deteriorating away your brain and everything else. It not only affects you, but your family and friends as well. You become less motivated and more lazy. Your goals completely go down the drain if you continue to smoke marijuana. You start doing less activities, and going any where. You become a different person and you don't even know it. It's just sad when you have all these goals you want to accomplish and peer pressure, or something else gets in the way. Then you become hooked and it's hard to quit. I still think that people will continue to use marijuana whether it is legalized or not, they always find a way. I also think that police need to start cracking down on more kids, because what they are doing is wrong and they deserve to suffer the consequence. By legalizing marijuana teenagers won't have a chance to gain back what they really want to be. They will be headed in the wrong direction of life. Their future holds nothing, but failure. If you continue to use marijuana you may also start to take other drugs as well. That's not a very wise choice. I really do believe it is becoming more popular than ever. Many teens are experimenting and not thinking at the time. They are being pressured into trying new things. They are afraid that they won't fit in and if they just do this "one thing" they think they'll become cool. I think that it is addictive, although others will argue that it isn't. If you keep continuing to do it and crave it, you're becoming dependent on that substance, which is wrong. Why do people need another product legalized when we already have cigarettes and alcohol? There just as bad. If anything we should try and stop the growth of marijuana. Teenagers need to start realizing that marijuana isn't anything but harmful. Sure you may feel high for a while, but is it worth all those side effects? People need to start caring about their health and their future. If you legalize marijuana more people will buy this product and it will cause more health problems, many people will become low lifes if they aren't already one. Legalizing marijuana is also going against other people's morals. A lot of people are against marijuana and see no good from it. The only reason that I think people should use marijuana is for medical conditions only, yet I still think it's wrong.

Marijuana and Alcohol

I think that many teens are getting involved in using these substances because they are being pressured. I feel like teenagers are being swayed into these situations and don't know how to get out of them. A lot of them are just caught up in the moment and don't know what to do. All teenagers are experiencing new things, it's a part of life. Everyone makes mistakes and learns from them. Most teenagers become hooked right away though, and that's the problem. They are not thinking of the consequences when they use these substances. They think everything will be okay, but it most likely isn't. You're not only hurting yourself, but you're hurting your friends and family too. All they care about is a "good feeling" that's coming from that drug, and it's not worth it. Some of the long term effects of marijuana are enhanced cancer risk, decrease in testosterone levels and lower sperm counts for men, increase in testosterone levels for women and increased risk of infertility, diminished or extinguished sexual pleasure, and psychological dependence requiring more of the drug to get the same effect. Some of the long term effects of alcohol is permanent damage to your vital organs such as the brain and liver, anxiety, convulsions, and hallucinations. Drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana are not good for you at all. I think teens should start realizing that there are other ways of having fun. You don't need to drink or smoke in order to have fun and if you do shame on you.

We all know that waking up is a hard thing to do in the morning. Most teens get up at 6 AM to get ready for school. We all know that 6 in the morning comes around pretty fast. Do you think school should start later? I think that getting more sleep is important. You'll have a chance to really wake up after a good night's rest. You'll get a chance to eat breakfast too. Most teens don't even get a chance to eat breakfast because they don't have time, and they need to make time. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies show that it will help you better in school. It helps you with your work ethic. So should school start later? Why or why not?
